3rd Grade
Sarah Wauson
My name is Sarah Wauson. This is my 7th year as an educator and my first year at George C. Clarke as a Fourth Grade Math/Science teacher. Previously, I taught in Victoria, TX for 3 years in fourth and second grade before moving to the DFW area in 2020. I spent the last 3 years as a second grade educator in Alvarado, TX. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with an ESL certification (Hook ‘Em Horns!).
When I am not teaching I enjoy traveling and volunteering in the community. I also enjoy spending time with my husband and two dogs (Trooper and Ranger). My favorite hobbies are reading, crochet, and attending Comic Cons.
My name is Rachel Cadena. I am excited to return to teaching after taking a few years off to be with my children. This will be my fifth year in education. Previously, I taught fifth grade and Pre-k. Transitioning to third grade will be a great adventure!
I hold a bachelor's degree in Christian Ministries and Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University. Currently, I am working to complete my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Tarleton State University. I have a love for learning and enjoy fostering that love within my students.
I am married with six children ages twelve to one years old. In my free time, I enjoy reading, art and craft projects, shopping, and eating a delicious meal with my family.
Maria Carranza
Hello! My name is Maria Carranza. I attended George C Clarke as a child, so I am excited to be returning to George C Clarke as a teacher. I graduate in 2013 from Texas Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in bilingual education. This is the beginning of my 8th year as a teacher and 11th year in education. Learning is very fundamental and without it we can’t be successful. “I can learn anything. I can know anything. I can be anything.” Besides being a teacher, I am a mom to two beautiful girls that keep me on my toes. We also have a Papillon and Love Birds, so the house is hardly ever quiet. We love to travel and explore new places especially when they have to do with food or activities the girls will enjoy. :) ¡Hola! :)
Devon Magness
My name is Devon Magness and I'm a 3rd grade teacher at George C. Clarke Elementary. This is my 7th year at GCC and my 15th year in Education (should be my 23rd but that story is for another day.) I've taught middle school math, Special Education (all spectrums), 5th grade and now rocking 3rd grade. I received my bachelors in Elementary Education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where I received a full-ride scholarship to play basketball. I am a mother of 2, a 7th grader and an 8th grader, who were once GCC Cougars. This year I have the opportunity to be the 3rd grade Reading teacher. No matter how this year plays out, I can promise my scholars will learn and overcome obstacles that come their way. I look forward to connecting with the students and preparing them for middle school. My philosophy in education is All Children are Teachable and Success is Built on Failures. Mistakes, if willing to accept, are opportunities for learning. The process might look different for each learner but fully capable for growth and relationships matters! Thank you for trusting us with your child's knowledge, safety, and well-being. 2023-2024 will be an amazing year!
